James V. Beightol, 82, of Kennedy passed away Saturday (May 18, 2024) in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA.
A lifelong area resident he was born December 6, 1941, the son of the late Vincent V. and Mary Ann Frederes Beightol.
Jim was a 1960 graduate of Falconer High School and NYS Delhi University. Jim along with his wife Joyce owned and operated Candy-Crest Dairy Farm in Kennedy for 54 years.
He served on the Town of Ellington Council for 22 years, Steamburg Milk Co-op having served as President, 4-H Leader, Chautauqua Co. Holstein Club, FSA Board, Farm Bureau, Ellington Kitchen Konference, Ross Grange and Randolph Moose.
Jim was a member of the Sunnyside Up Band and enjoyed playing guitar. He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, golfing, taking boat cruises with his wife Joyce, going to the casino, playing pinochle, and attending the farmer’s breakfast.
Surviving is his wife Joyce A. McCarthy Beightol whom he married October 2, 1965 in Levant Wesleyan Church; two daughters: Tammy (Tom) Bollman of Falconer, Deanna (Allen) Shaffer of San Diego, CA; two sons: Brett (Cathy) Beightol of Ellington, Bradley (Abbie) Beightol of Rock Point, NY; eight grandchildren: Ashley (Nick) Simon, Heather (Justin) Brosius, Alexandria (Matthew) Smith, Emily Beightol, James Beightol, Katherine Beightol, Madeleine Beightol, Molly Beightol; five great grandchildren: Hailey and Holley Brosius, Mason and Skyler Simon, Jaxson Smith and a brother Leon H. (Barbara) Beightol of Ellington.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Carol Beightol and two sisters: Linda Starr and Darlene Mendrick.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Mel McGinnis pastor of Kiantone Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery.
