Cherry Creek, NY – Leo D. Gagnon, 71, of Thornton Road, Cherry Creek, Town of Ellington, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at home with his families care and Hospice.

Leo fought a long battle with esophageal cancer, and he fought right up to the very end. He battled on for the love of his family, his cherished friends and so that he could win his next hand of poker.

He was born October 24, 1952 in Springfield, Mass, son of the late Leo and Irene (Jarvis) Gagnon. Leo retired in 2023 from Jamestown Bronze after 35 years of service, where he took pride in his work along with his fellow co-workers.

He is survived by his wife, Tina K. (Hagberg) Gagnon, his children; Cherilyn (Brian) Cline, Brenda (Philip) Mann, Steven (Michelle) Gagnon, 11 grandchildren; Danielle Hitchcock, Kaylee Lamb, Paige Moran, Lyla Gagnon, Brodie Gagnon, Summer Waite, Jazmine Penhollow, Daeton Cline, Joey Bellardo, Noah Paxton and Owen Clinton, 10 great grandchildren; Aydn Swartz, Koltyn Hitchcock, Jace Moran, Chloe Moran, Lillian Penhollow, Noah Troxell, Aaleyah Rara, Memphis Waite, Adrian Waite and Everly Cook.

He is also survived by his sibling, Sue McMillian, Constance Crough, Rick Warren, Jay Stearns, Lori Cullinan, Aileen Myers, Russell Stearns and Daniel Stearns.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Leo Gagnon and Irene Jarvis Gagnon Stearns Bias, step father Duane Stearns and two sisters, Janet Kozlakowski and Lydia Gagnon.

A Celebration of life will be held on June 22, 2024 at 3:00 PM at 5828 Thornton Road, Cherry Creek, NY.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph.
