Roland E. “Bud” King, 87, of Memory Garden, formerly of Ellicottville, died Saturday, May 18, 2024, in UPMC Chautauqua.
He was born July 11, 1936, in Lottsville, PA, a son of the late Stewart and Alice Sherman King.
He attended Sugar Grove High School before joining the US Marine Corps.
He was a member of Steam Fitters Union 22 and worked as a plumber.
He was a member of the American Legion.
He was an avid golfer in summer and snow skier in winter who enjoyed socializing with his many, many friends and his weekly poker game.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Memory Garden for the wonderful care they provided Bud over the last two years. They also appreciate his meal mates Shirley and Karen.
Surviving is a sister Beverly Nelson of Corry, PA; sister in law Susan King of West Ellicott; nieces Deborah (John) Lloyd of Dublin, CA and Kellie (Jim) Work of Celoron; and his great friend of 50 years Bill Brown.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sons Randall and Jeffrey King; a sister Betty Sanborn; a brother Stewart “Stub” King Jr; nephews Robert King, and Scott Sanborn; and niece Amy King.
A memorial service will be held at a late date.
