Stephen Lyon Bascom
Stephen Lyon Bascom of Warrenton, Virginia, died on May 13, 2024. He was born in Jamestown on January 3, 1948, the son of Almon H. Bascom and Lenora Lyon Bascom. He attended Panama Central School and was valedictorian of the P.C.S. class of 1966. He graduated from Houghton College with a degree in Mathematics.
He married Allaire Maynard in August 1970. They were married nearly 54 years. He taught school for several years, then became a long-time civilian employee of the intelligence division at the Pentagon.
He is survived by wife Allaire and two children, Laurel and Jonathan Bascom of Virginia. He is also survived by a sister Rebecca Anderson of Jamestown, and a niece, Rosemary Austin, and her children Emily and William, of Stedman N.C.
A memorial service is scheduled at Alive Church in Bristow, Virginia on June 1st at 11 A.M.
