Eugene L. Wilder, 91, of Jamestown passed away Wednesday (June 19, 2024) in the Star Hospice House, Lakewood, N.Y.
A lifelong area resident, he was born April 16, 1933 in Jamestown, the son of the late Willis and Mary E. Blashaw Wilder.
Gene was a 1950 graduate of Falconer High School and served in the United States National Guard for eight years. Prior to retirement he was employed by MRC-SKF for 53 years, as a skilled machinist, traveling to Sweden for company training.
He attended Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, and was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Celtics, and Falconer Rod & Gun Club. Gene enjoyed golfing at South Hills Country Club and at St. Simons Island, Ga., deer hunting, cross country skiing, many fishing trips including Canada and riding his motorcycle with his wife and friends. He was a craftsman with pride, and was proud to have built his home for he and Rosemarie.
Surviving is his wife Rosemarie Cordosi Wilder, whom he married June 22, 1957, in St. James Catholic Church. They would have been married 67 years this month. He is also survived by a sister Adeline Shelters (age 95) of Kennedy; four nieces: Diane Marlett, Kathleen (David) Krieg, Debra (William) Parker, Joanne Schmidt; six nephews: Dennis (Diane) Shelters, Dana Shelters, Dean Shelters, William Wilder, Patrick Wilder, Joseph Wilder, and many great nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: William Wilder, Edwin J. Wilder, and a nephew Michael Wilder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home.
