John J. Schauers

He was born in Jamestown July 4, 1933, a son of the late Amil Schauers and Ethel Johnson Schauers Koresko.

John was a US Army veteran, with service from 1953 to 1955. He was employed by Hopes Windows for 10 years and retired after more than 20 years with AMSCO. A member of the Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion, he also loved antique cars, fishing and hunting.

Surviving are nine nieces and nephews: Cindy Ahlgren of Conewango, Sheila (Harold) Johnson of Frewsburg, Anita Hotchkiss of Centerville, PA, Darin (Cindy) Gregory of Sugar Grove, Burdette (Laurie) Gregory of Sugar Grove, Alan (Cheryl) Schauers of Jamestown, Gary Schauers of Sherman, Jody (Joe) Glover of Celoron, and Catherine (Russell) Haight of Bear Lake, PA. In addition to his parents,

John was preceded in death by his wife Harriet Jobe Schauers whom he married Sept. 21, 1957 and who died Aug. 13, 2017; a sister, Letha “Lee” Abbey; and three brothers, Richard, Jimmy, and Carl Schauers.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19th in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. prior to the service in the funeral home Wednesday. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
