Arnold Wilford Ring

Arnold (Arnie) Wilford Ring, of Mount Pleasant, SC, was born in Jamestown, NY on Sept. 10, 1927, and was peacefully called to Heaven, surrounded by family, on Dec. 2, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Donna Jean Petersen Ring, on Feb. 26, 2018, whom he married on April 29, 1950. He is survived by a son, David A. Ring, his wife, Bonnie, of Sinclairville, NY; two daughters, Sandra L. Wilson, her husband Jay, of Scottsdale, AZ, and Kathleen S. Youker, her husband James, of Mount Pleasant, SC, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Arne graduated from Jamestown High School in 1945. He entered the Army in September 1946 and served in Japan during WWII.

Prior to moving to SC in 2005, he was a member of Kidder Memorial Church, The Viking Lodge, The VFW, The Rod & Gun Club. Arnie and Donna marched with the Viking Drum & Bugle Corp., were avid golfers at Cable Hollow Golf Club, and playing nickel slots at the casinos. Arie worked as a welder and material clerk at Dahlstrom Manufacturing Company from July 1948 until his retirement in April 1994. He loved God and his family. He was honest, hard-working, and the best role model a family could have.

He loved working in the yard and tending to a garden. He could make anything grow and especially loved growing roses for his wife. He was always happy. He loved music, singing, telling jokes, and was usually whistling a tune.

Donna and Arnie’s final wishes were to be laid to rest together.

Please join the family as they celebrate their lives and the love they had for each other. The service will be in the Chapel at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Lakewood, NY, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to attend a luncheon at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, Celoron, NY.
