Bettie Keith Alexander

Bettie Keith Alexander, 100, of Jamestown Street, Randolph, passed away at 3:36 PM, Sunday, June 30, 2024 at home under the care of hospice and her family, whom were at her side when she entered the arms of Jesus.

She was born Oct. 5, 1923 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Edwin A. and Catherine Elizabeth (Wade) Keith.

Bettie was a 1940 graduate of Randolph Central School, received her Bachelor’s from Fredonia State Teachers College and her Masters in Music Education form Mary Washington College in Virginia in 1945. She taught at Harbor Creek High School in Harbor Creek, Pa. and retired in 1976 from the Gail N. Chapman Elementary at RCS, where she was the Music Teacher.

Bettie and her family attended the Randolph United Presbyterian Church, where she was the long time choir director. She was a member of the Boonsboro Country Club in Virginia and Cardinal Hill Golf Course in Randolph (built and owned by her father, Edwin Keith). She was also a member of the Randolph American Legion Auxiliary Unit 181, and as a Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Fidelity Chapter 239 in Randolph.

She will be remembered for her zest for life, love of her family, golf, her church family and music. She enjoyed playing bridge at the Legion and VFW and she traveled the world and loved every minute of it.

She is survived by her son and caregiver; J. Keith Alexander, wife Catherine and their granddaughter, Alexis all of Randolph and NC, two daughters; Kathy L. Fallen and husband Stuart of Virginia, and Kimberly A. Waldron and husband Daniel of Tennessee, seven grandchildren, Austin J. Alexander, A. Paige (Trey) Fallen, John S. (Kristen) Fallen, Owen M. (Elizabeth) Buhler and Nathaniel K.(Katherine) Buhler, Catherine Moore and Aaron Moore, as well as 13 great-grandchildren, Ethan and Brody Alexander, Haleigh and Travis Fallen, Mack, John and William Buhler, Avery Tamburro and Henry Beach, Isabella and Chase Moore, Luke and Levi Fallen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, John M. Alexander, whom she married on Dec. 28, 1946 in Randolph and whom preceded her on Sept. 12, 1984.

A Celebration of life will held on her birthday, Oct. 5, 2024 at 11 AM from the Randolph United Presbyterian Church. More details will be announced later by VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph. As per Bettie’s request, there will be no visitation.
