Charlotte Beth (TeWinkle) Holmstrom
Charlotte Beth (TeWinkle) Holmstrom
On July 17, 2024 Charlotte Beth (TeWinkle) Holmstrom of Clymer, NY returned home to be with her Lord. Charlotte was the witty, fun-loving second child of Glenn and Bernice TeWinkle, born on September 6, 1942.
Charlotte attended Clymer Central School where she especially enjoyed business classes, playing trumpet in the band, and cheering on the sports teams. She graduated in 1960 and attended Bryant & Stratton Business Institute in Buffalo, NY. She was secretary extraordinaire, having worked for many years as church secretary for Abbe Reformed Church in Clymer, as Clymer Town Clerk, and retiring after a long career with Clymer Telephone (Alltel).
Charlotte met her soul mate and best friend, Larry Holmstrom in the most peculiar of places: a hospital, where Larry was visiting Charlotte’s father. She fell in love with the farm boy with the kind eyes and strawberry blonde hair, and they were married on March 21, 1964.
Charlotte was a woman of deep faith. Proverbs 31:10-31 speaks of a woman of valor, a charitable woman who cares for her family and community, and Charlotte embodied such a woman her entire life. Anyone who met Charlotte remembers her smile and the warmth, love and laughter it conveyed. She faithfully and actively attended Abbe Reformed Church where she served as a deacon, choir member, Sunday School superintendent, and a long-time member and officer of Reformed Church Women. She always cherished the strong bond of her Bible study group from the 70s. Some of her favorite past times were extended family gatherings including her parents and siblings, complete with water fights and playing games, proudly dressing in Dutch costume for the Clymer Tulip Festival, going on vacation to places of historical significance, singing sunset songs while riding in the car during sunset, planning her CCS class reunions, and attending any event in which her grandchildren participated.
Other than her faith in Jesus Christ, her family was paramount in her life. Her favorite grandchild was whichever one was closest to her in that moment, and she gloried in her great-grandchildren. She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry; her daughter Gwen (Sam) Gleason and Gail Lemke; her grandchildren: Tracey (Ryan) Onuffer, Courtney (Taylor) Chamberlin, Kevin Gleason, Rachel (Daniel) Reid, Trevor Gleason, Ryan (Alyssa) Lemke, Jared (Kloe) Gleason and Hayden Lemke; and her great-grandchildren: Chase, Riley, Kaydence, Sydney, Emilia, and Solar. She is also survived by her brother, Geary (Denise) TeWinkle; sister-in-law, Twyla Sales, her “Aussie daughter” Melanie Baxter (Malcolm), a niece and two nephews.
As Charlotte finds peace in her heavenly home, she will be welcomed by those who have died before her, including her parents, sister Phyllis, and nieces Teri and Tammy.
Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions in Charlotte’s memory may be made to the
