Christy Baglia Jr.
Christy Baglia Jr., 78, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 at his home in Jamestown. He was the husband of Terry Southwick Baglia.
Christy was born in Jamestown on July 30, 1945, a son of the late Christy Sr. and Frances Vitanza Baglia. A 1963 graduate of Jamestown High School, he also attended Jamestown Community College and served in the US Army as an MP from 1964 to 1966.
Christy was a police officer with the Jamestown Police Dept., where he was a member of the SWAT Team, and retired as a Detective in 1990. He then served as Steward at the Falconer American Legion until 2000.
An avid NY Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan, Christy enjoyed golf at Conewango Valley Country Club and sharing a beer with family watching Buffalo Bills football.
Along with his wife Terry, surviving are five children: Christine Baglia (Tom) Wayland of Austin, TX, Scott (Lexy) Baglia of Waxhaw, NC, Christy (Shannon) Baglia III of Falconer, NY, and Gina (Matt) Bloomquist and Alissa (Craig) Robbins, both of Jamestown; and five stepchildren: Tina (Charles) Perry, Holly Neureuter and Kim (Jeff Holmes), all of Winston-Salem, NC, Stacey Thomas of Jamestown, NY, and Charles (Caira) Ferry of Loxahatchee, FL.
Also surviving are 21 grandchildren: Christopher (Breana) Mitchell, Nick (Kaelyn) Mitchell, Bryce (Brie) Baglia, Ellyson Baglia, Collyns Baglia, Aric Bloomquist, Alexa Bloomquist, Scotty (Hailey) Baglia, Kameron Baglia, Easton Baglia, Ava Baglia, Jack Robbins, Dominick Robbins, Kelsey Thomas, Jordan Thomas, Summer Borysoff, Hailey Holmes, Zoey Holmes, Bryce Neureuter, Gabriella Ferry, and Bennett Ferry; 12 great-grandchildren; his special nephew, Cory Berardi; lifetime friends, Jim and Judy Manzi; and Christy’s four-legged daughter, Maggie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Baglia.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3 in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Caira Ferry, Christy’s daughter-in-law, will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
