Daniel K. McIntyre
Daniel K. McIntyre
Daniel K. McIntyre, 75, a lifelong resident of Busti, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, in UPMC Chautauqua, with his wife by his side.
He was born August 8, 1948, in Jamestown, a son of the late Gerald McIntyre and Almie Depas McIntyre Anderson.
He was a 1966 graduate of Southwestern Central School, and went to Jamestown Community College earning several degrees in engineering.
He enlisted in the US Army in 1969, and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone with the Signal Corps.
A faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic church, he served on the parish council, and as a faith formation teacher for many years.
He was proud to be one of the longest tenured employees of Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant, for 42 years, retiring in 2020 as a manufacturing engineer for the block line. We are sure his contagious laugh still echoes throughout the building.
He was a member and past master of Carroll Lodge, War Vets Recreation, Herman Kent Post American Legion 777, Moose Lodge, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Knights Templar #40, Dunkirk, Robert H. Jackson Lodge of Research #9010, Ismalia Shrine, and Western Sun Chapter 67 RAM.
He was extremely generous and gave to many charities and organizations. He enjoyed being on his tractors, fishing, going to breakfast and lunch with the boys, cheering for the Buffalo Bills, and playing the lottery saying, “yah gotta play to win!” He’ll be remembered for his quick wit, humor and love for his family which kept him yearning to live following his cancer diagnosis in 2016.
Surviving is his wife Susan Ferrara McIntyre, his high school sweetheart whom he married April 17, 1971. Daughters Julie (Scott) Shilling and Lynn (Mark) Dollard both of Jamestown; son Douglas McIntyre of Oakboro, NC; grandchildren Kelly and Andy Dollard of Jamestown and Tucker Rose Flake of Wadesboro, NC; brother Brian (Darlene) McIntyre of Busti and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents in law Anthony and Mary Ann Ferrara whom he adored.
