Ricky Gordon Johnson

Ricky was the son of Beverley Johnson and Richard Gordon Johnson; brother of Robert Leonard Johnson; sister Tina (Johnson) Pullan and a son Nicholas Brandon Johnson. Rick had resided initially in Panama, NY and later in Ashville, NY, Hartford, CT, Sparks, NV, Altoona, FL, and Jamestown, NY.

Ricky was a 1971 graduate of Panama Central School where he excelled in football and wrestling. He is credited with facilitating the Ripley Central School Wrestling Team along with Pete Peterson, wrestling coach and friend. Ricky enjoyed a close friendship with Doug Scolton and others during his educational years.

A family camp in Sherman, NY was treasured by Rick, his family and friends, often being the home of many fishing poles, hunting rifles, snowmobiles and hiking boots. No doubt his pride and joy was his Barracuda sports car. Rick enjoyed a friendship with his sister’s college mates from Jamestown Community College and Edinboro State College.

Rick followed his dad’s metallurgy career in Vac Air Alloys, Frewsburg, NY being instrumental in expanding the business to England, Germany, Pittsburgh, PA and Vegas Vac Air, where he was respected as the company foreman.

Rick was also employed by Aguilera Trucking Inc. as an eighteen wheel over the road driver carrying travelling Broadway musicals and Country Stars. In his spare time, he enjoyed creating model cars, watching NASCAR, and racing at Stateline Speedway.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at a later date.
