Charles A. Reeves

Charles Anthony Reeves, 85, formerly of Burch Drive, Onoville, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville.

Mr. Reeves was born March 4, 1939 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Charles John and Martha L. (Kitchner) Reeves. .

Chuck was a graduate of South Park High School in South Buffalo, Buffalo Police Academy and received Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Erie County Community College. Chuck was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country proudly from 1961 to 1964, and as a military police officer in Germany for 3¢ years.

He retired from the Erie County Sheriff’s Department, where he was a deputy in the special crimes unit. He had also worked at Burt Manufacturing in Cheektowaga and for the Village of Springville Police Department.

He was raised in the Episcopal Church in Buffalo and his memberships had included; Carroll Rod & Gun Club, Randolph Lodge #359 Free & Accepted Masons, Frewsburg Samuel Derby American Legion Post 556, formerly, Springville American Legion and the West Seneca VFW Post. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and living in Onoville, NY in the country.

He is survived by two daughters Marylynn Reeves of Springville, and Kelly Ann Reeves of Yankton, SD; a son Charles J. “Chuckie” Reeves and wife Maribeth of Lackawanna, NY; six grandchildren, Ricky, Ryan, Caitlyn, Christian, Janelle and Taylor, and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by two siblings Silvia Snyder and William Arthur (Sylvia) Reeves.

He was preceded by his parents and his wife of 47 years; Linda L. (Waag) Reeves, whom he married on Oct. 16, 1965 in Buffalo and whom preceded him on March 1, 2013.

As per Chuck’s wishes, visitation will not be observed. A memorial service to celebrate Chuck’s life will be held at a later time in the St. Matthews Cemetery in West Seneca, with a date and time to be announced later by the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph.
