Cynthia D. Olson

She was born June 4, 1947, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Carl “Fred” and Ellen (Brandquist) Johnson.

Cynthia was a 1965 graduate of Jamestown High School.

Before her retirement she worked as a teacher’s aide for the Jamestown Public Schools for several years, with the majority of those years being at Lincoln School.

Cynthia enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church, and enjoyed singing in the church choir for nearly 50 years. For the past two years Cynthia faithfully attended the East Otto Community Church in Christ.

Cynthia and her family also spent many summers making wonderful memories at the Vikings Club on Chautauqua Lake.

Surviving is her husband John Olson (of Frewsburg) whom she married July 30, 1968; her three children: Christopher Olson of Orchard Park, Melissa (Tim) Ulinger of East Otto, and Geoff (Sarah) Olson of Jamestown; her nine grandchildren: Hannah (Kyle) O’Donnell, Tim (Joelle Rosenswie) Ulinger, Becca Ulinger, John Ulinger and Noah Ulinger, all of East Otto, Tyler Olson of New York City, Julia Olson of Rochester, Liam Olson, and Emaline Olson of Jamestown. Cynthia was excited for the arrival of her first great grandchild in December. Also surviving are Cynthia’s four siblings: Rev. Douglas (Stephanie) Johnson (PA), Debbie Hartman (FL), Candace Johnson (GA), and David (Beth) Johnson (NY/FL), and sister in law Jean Smith (Jamestown) along with many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday August 21, 2024, in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday August 20, in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or East Otto Community Church in Christ.
