Darla M. Rissel

A lifetime resident of Kennedy, NY, Darla was born September 6, 1956, the daughter of the late Wilson H. and Muriel Whattler Rissel.

She was a 1974 graduate of Falconer High School and in 1995 received an Associates degree in the Arts of Social Sciences from JCC.

Darla was a longtime employee of Truck-Lite. A number of years she served as the animal control officer for the Town of Poland and volunteered at the Chautauqua County Humane Society. She was currently serving as the Deputy Clerk for the Town of Poland and Town of Ellington.

She was an avid animal lover dedicated to her numerous pets over the years. Enjoying travel, some of her favorite places to explore were Richmond, Virginia, Harpers Ferry, and southern Maryland along the Potomac River. Darla was happiest with family and friends having hot dog cook outs, gatherings at the pond and frequent romps to the Office in Kennedy.

Darla is survived by her companion Steve Sample, her pets: Isabell, Hamp, Wiggles, Peeco and Florence; sisters: Bonita Mead, Betty DeJoy; brothers: Robert, David, and Dana Rissel; four nephews; one niece, six grandnieces, three grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by parents Wilson and Muriel Rissel and two nephews.

Visitation will not be observed. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be donated to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, Kennedy Library or Kennedy Fire Department.
