Donald F. Adams
Donald F. Adams, 87, of Frewsburg, NY, peacefully passed away on Friday morning, September 20, 2024, at Heritage Green Skilled Nursing & Rehab. He was born in Jamestown on October 20, 1936, to the late, beloved Frances Kelly Larson and William O. Adams.
A Chautauqua County resident his whole life, Don graduated from Falconer High School in 1954. May 20, 1961 then marked the day when he married the love of his life, Joanne Dahlberg Adams. Don provided for his family through his dedicated work at Dahlstrom Manufacturing Co., where he ultimately retired as a supervisor. Proudly, he, too, served in the National Guard for nine years.
Don adored his family, loving nothing more than quality experiences with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed many rounds of golf in earlier years and fondly owned and operated Hidden Valley Camp ground for ten years, from 1972-1982.Many friends and family were also gifted with his amazing fudge over the years.
Faith played a defining role throughout Don’s years. He and Joanne were members of Kiantone Congregational Church, where Don was instrumental in devising the Men’s Club. A distinctive attribute that will ultimately be treasured in memories, Don had firm thoughts and beliefs that, eventually, came around to gentle and amenable resolutions.
Besides his compassionate wife of 63 years, Joanne, Donald is survived by three children: Marsha (Bill) Pownall of Frewsburg, Gary Adams of Frewsburg, and Nancy (Matthew) Bush of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren: Rachel (Cody) Peace, Adam Cheney, Dr. Shelby (Bobby) Rauh, Garrett Adams, and Meredith Bush; four great-grandchildren: Jasmine Peace, Alice Peace, Henry Cheney, and Jolie Rauh; and one great-grandson expected to arrive in late October.
Besides his mother, Frances, and father, William, Donald was preceded in death by his siblings: Gertrude Adams, Oliver Adams, and Lois Estabrook.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service from 11-1pm Saturday at Lind’s.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kiantone Congregational Church, 646 Kiantone Road, Jamestown, NY 14701, or to a charity of one’s choice.
