Beth Anne Bargar
Beth Anne Bargar, of Largo, Florida went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 22, 2024, her 61st birthday. Beth was a 1981 graduate of Westfield High School where she was an accomplished musician, advancing to first chair for flute in the All County Orchestra and appearing in many plays. She continued her musical and theatrical appearances while attending Jamestown Community College and Jamestown Business College. She then worked for Chautauqua Airlines and Hartley Buick. It was while she was at Hartley Buick that she met the love of her life, Jamestown attorney Mark Bargar, whom she married May 21, 1988. After marriage Mark and Beth had two daughters, Alaina and Lauren. Beth also worked after her children were in school as a preschool teacher for Lakewood Methodist Church and Holy Trinity Church in Jamestown. She also organized and conducted several children’s musical programs at Bemus Point Methodist Church and was one of several people who helped start a Saturday evening service at the church during which she often played her flute and sang. Beth was also a talented jewelry and candle maker turning what started out as a hobby into a business, first at local craft shows and then into a business in Findlay Lake under the name of Beth’s Candle Cottage. Beth will always be remembered as a kind, loving and gentle soul but with a wicked sense of humor, as evidenced by the holiday and birthday “Odes” she wrote to family members.
Beth is survived by her husband Mark, her daughter Alaina ( David) Hasbrouck, her daughter Lauren ( Ryan) Vezina, her grandchildren Sarah, James and Peter Hasbrouck, her brother Mark Strobl and her father Donald Strobl. Beth was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette Strobl and her beloved sister, Donna Strobl. She was also predeceased by her pets Church the cat, Toby the dog and Pumpkin the cat. There will be a memorial service on May 17, 2025 at the Bemus Point Methodist Church where all who knew and loved Beth will be welcome. Memorials should be made to the Bemus Point Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Chautauqua County.
