Janet M. Scott, 88, of Lakewood, NY, peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. She was born to the late Edward and Agnes Anderson Veitz in Jamestown on January 15, 1936.
Following high school graduation, Janet studied business and was employed as an office manager for several years in Jamestown and Rochester, NY.
The spunk in Janet’s character will not be forgotten. In earlier years, Janet enjoyed bowling, roller skating and knitting. Janet and her husband, Don, were married on January 2, 1976. Recently, they enjoyed eating out and taking many car rides with their pampered pooch, Paisley. One would not know her without also knowing her distinct love for jigsaw puzzles. She finished countless 1000-piece puzzles.
Janet leaves behind her husband, Donald Scott; children: Mark (Lynn) Warner of Jamestown, Lori (Brian) Kooken of Ashville, and Amy (Andy) Benton of Jamestown; stepchildren: David Scott of Clearwater, FL, and Dana (Susana) Scott of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren: Alisen (Erik) Hazzard of Cary, NC, Brett (Carolyn) Warner of Bradenton, FL, Ed (Demi) Nelson of Panama, NY, Jennifer (Justin) Litzinger of Lakewood, NY, Kelly Bennett of Lakewood, NY, Justin (Charly) Fellion of Lakewood, NY, Andrew (Raelyn) Delcamp of Buffalo, NY, Alex Scott of Binghamton, NY, and Alyssa Scott of Indian Rocks Beach, FL; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Judi (Renee Gravelle) Veitz of Buffalo, NY.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Warner and her two sisters: Jeannie Corcoran and Yvonne Pruett.
The memorial service for Janet will be at 3:00pm on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Lind Funeral Home. Janet’s sister, Judi, will officiate.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00pm Friday at Lind’s.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
Janet’s family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Chautauqua Hospice for their tender care and compassionate presence. Additionally, Janet’s great niece, Stephanie Miraglia, who remains a blessing for the care she selflessly offered.
