Dennis “Joe” Allen Peterson, 77, of Mayville, NY, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Warren Manor in Warren, PA, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 12, 1948, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Allen and Betty Bramstrong Peterson.
Joe was a 1966 graduate of Chautauqua Central School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, spending two years in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He had worked for many years as a self-employed plumber in the Mayville area, had worked for the DMV for several years and was a chef in many local restaurants.
Joe was a member of the Mayville American Legion Post 493 and the Lake Chautauqua VFW Post 8647. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his brother, David (Karen) Peterson of Jamestown, NY, and Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
The funeral will be held at 1 PM on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville, 139 S. Erie St. The Rev. James Swanson will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery where military honors will be presented. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the funeral from noon to 1 PM.
